Bunch-a-Bubbas

Not much time for commentary this week - I just wanted to quickly post some pics of our red neck Halloween get-up. Watching Miles Trunk-or-Treat for the first time was oh-so-cute. I love my little bubba(s).

Delish Tradish

There were many traditions in my home when I was young - and I LOVED them! Since Miles is quickly growing into a little boy and becoming increasingly aware, I've realized that now is the time to implement more traditions in our little family. The other day, it just hit me that we need to have a special treat for General Conference. The trick is that it had to be delicious and that we could only have it twice a year for conference weekend. Scott and I were watching America's Test Kitchen (love this show) and came across a recipe for Blueberry Scones. So, I gave them a shot . . . Incredible! Not like the traditional English Scones - much lighter, sweeter, and with a crisp sugary crust. Ah, so tasty.

PG party

No, not parental guidance . . . that's Pleasant Grove, UT. A few years back, my parents retired to PG and we've been faithfully visiting ever since. This last visit was just Miles and me (Scottie was on a work trip), but we partied hard and had a great time. Here's a quick (and completely unthorough) recap:

Miles loved dressing up in Grandpapa's shirt, Uncle PJ's sandals,

and whatever else he could get his little body into

He watercolored for the first time with Grandma (and LOVED it!)

He repeadetly snuck the sugar out of the pantry, sat down, and enjoyed

He was all about hopping in the mini-grocery cart and just chillin . . . if only he would do this for me at Albertsons -




He watched Grandpa bike, then became ridiculously obsessed with the whole thing. Still, whenever he sees a bike, he growls "Grandpapa!!"

And, the big outting of our trip?!?! We went to the Barnum & Bailey Circus!!! Miles was a rockstar and completely loved (pretty much) the whole thing. Who knew this kid has such an attention span? It took me back to going to the circus as a kid . . . good times.

Thanks Mom, Dad, PJ, & Uncle Keith!!! We had a FABULOUS time!

Tough Guy, huh?

We had Miles' 18 month well-care visit at the pediatrician office on Tuesday. He was a little maniac. He's finally tall enough (90th percentile, we discovered) to reach the door knob in the doctor's office . . . so, there was no hope of happily detaining him in that little room while we waited and waited and waited for the doctor to arrive. Then, once the doc finally showed, there was still no hope of keeping him happy. He wanted out - BADLY. A little growling, a little screaming, even some flailing of the arms. I know - you're all likely shocked at this point . . . surprisingly, Miles is not the angel that he has thus far paraded as. :)

Anyway, it's finally time for his shots. He lays on the table, and takes 'em . . . one by one, just staring down the nurse. When we're done he sits up and waves bye-bye as she walks out the door. Scott and I exchange a couple looks of disbelief, get Miles dressed, and finally let him leave that small room. Not a tear or whimper. Keep in mind, this is from the kid who let out a scream last time that the nurse described as the loudest she had ever heard. seriously

So Long, Summer~

With this suddenly chilly weather, I'm doing some good reflecting on our summer. It has been awesome. But, you wouldn't know it from the looks of our blog . . . I guess we've been too busy to report back about anything. Looking at our calendar, I realized that we haven't been in our home for more than 1 1/2 weeks at any time since early June. We're finally settling back into real life and there's something surprisingly alluring about the fall temps.

. . . I know, weird. We went to the pool last night for one last hoorah and Miles' lips and the surrounding flesh were decidedly blue by the time we left. Thankfully, he was too busy partying with his new basketball to notice.

Sweet summer, I'm going to miss you. What will we do without pool days and popsicles and flip flops? It's going to be rough . . . but we'll get through it. I think it's the cute little boy fall fashions that are somehow managing to excite me about pumpkins, cinnamon, and the inevitably changing leaves.

Little Monkey

We recently returned from a great vacation in Utah.  Scott's family (nearly) all came together for his parents homecoming from Guatemala.  

Plus, we got a new fabulous camera while we were there . . . here are some cute pics.  :) This child will now be even more photographed than he was before - incredible.
