This little Mia is a ridiculously sweet little love. She was born Saturday morning, March 13 at 6:01a weighing in at 8 lb 5 oz and measuring 22 in. This is her arrival story.

Scott had been studying pretty hard for mid-terms with his final exam ending at 7:30p Friday evening. We decided to put Miles down at our friends', the Pearces, so we could hang out at their place for a late night in. I had been feeling contractions all day, but didn't think too much of them because I had contractions for days before having Miles. In fact, they could hardly get me to go into labor even a week late. But I digress ...
So, as the night went on I found myself getting more and more uncomfy. Nothing too bad ... but I started shifting my weight around to ease the discomfort. As 10 or so rolled around the contractions were getting a little more for-real, but Scott & I insisted that it wasn't really labor. We enjoyed some delish hot fudge sundaes and I started casually timing contractions ... 6 minutes apart.
We ended up staying until 11:30p or so, then gathered up Miles and walked back to our place. We decided that I should pack my bag just in case the contractions should actually turn into something. Then, as Scott mentioned that we should get some rest, he found me in the bathroom shaving my legs. I think that's when we both realized that this could be it. Shaving at 12:30a? ... who does that?
So, we started packing a little more seriously ... my bag, clothes for Mia, Miles' overnight bag. Again, we thought about trying to get some sleep - and I realized that I wouldn't be able to sleep through my contractions (which were now 4-5 minutes apart). OK, this was it!
We dabbled around a little longer (in an effort to minimize the length of our stay at the hospital), then headed out around 3a. We grabbed Miles (again) and walked him back to the Pearces for his first sleepover. Thank you Molly and Randy! He woke up on the way over and we explained to him that we were going to get Baby Mia. He was in a deliriously happy little mood ... so darling. He exclaimed "I'm going to be a REALLY good boy! That is the tallest tree in the whole world! I love you daddy". We just about died laughing at our sweet little bubba as he nuzzled into Scott's neck. At the Pearces, he climbed up on pull-out bed and went right to sleep. Thank heavens!
When we arrived at the hospital, I was already at a 6! - hallelujah. After about an hour we were tranferred from triage to our labor & delivery room. This is where the contractions got intense. After another hour, I hopped up on the table and was at a 9! double hallelujah! I still just couldn't believe that I was going into labor all by myself (without labor inducing drugs). So, after a few more contractions, we were ready to push. And, once I started pushing, baby Mia made her debut after only about 20 minutes. It was the craziest, happiest, most emotional experience of my life. Kisses, tears ... the works. I remember I just kept repeating "I'm so happy".
So, there you have it.
We're concluding week 2 with our new little love and are just in heaven. She is an incredible sleeper, a natural born eater, and Miles loves her like crazy. Oh, and in case you're wondering about Soleil, it's pronouced [so-lay] and is French for Sun or Sunshine. She really is my little sunshine - we're so blessed.
